Storm Watch 2010

Quick update from PHX...
Approximately two hours ago I was driving in one of the most intense storms I had ever experienced- which says a lot since we grew up in one of the rainiest places in the world.
I was driving from home to the office to have a Big Goal Dinner with a few of my corps members when it hit... The torrential downpour of rain started plastering a sheet of water 3 inches in front of my windshield. Thunder boomed across the valley and lightening lit up the dreary sky every 10 to 15 seconds. In a short period of time I was driving through- no joke- at least 6 inches of water on the road. Between Red Rage (my truck) and the Tahoe next to me water was coming in my rolled down side windows. You might ask, why were your windows down? To which my response would be- because it is still 85 freaking degrees in october here.
Suddenly I hear huge cracking noises all around and see that hail the size of bouncy balls are striking my car at a force I have never before seen or felt- talk about scary. So I near my office traveling a blazing speed of 2mph (Phoenicians realy don't know how to drive in any type of rain) the parking garage was flooded. Oh boy.
So, I got out of my car took my shoes off, rolled my nice dress pants up and began my trek into the office. Luckily our office is one with umbrellas outside so I pulled open an umbrella and began to cross the road. A river of water flooded down the streets and I felt like I was Brad Pitt in A River Runs Through it fighting the current on my path to success- for him it was a prize fish, for me it was making it into my office. So, I waded across the calf-deep ( again, not a joke- it really was calf deep) water on the road with my shoes off and ended up at the office... SUCCESS!

Apparently, that wasnt a quick update and just so you know, on my way home I drove by many down trees and power outages...

All I can say is WOW MOTHER NATURE... IMPRESSIVE!
